Last updated: 25 August 2026
Magu: Read Persian 101 (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “App”) is an educational app that teaches reading Persian script. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is collected, how it is used, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how you can access, correct, or delete it.
This policy is included in the App (About → Privacy Policy) and on this website. It is the policy we use for Apple App Store and Google Play listings.

1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the App. Depending on how you use it, that may include the following.
Information you provide
- First name
- Age group (4–12 or 13+)
- Optional profile details such as gender or self-assessed Persian reading level
- Email address
- Sign-in details supplied by Apple, Google, or email/password through Firebase Authentication
- Answers, ratings, and feedback you enter while learning
We do not receive your Apple or Google account password. If you use Sign in with Apple and Hide My Email, we receive Apple’s private relay address, not your personal inbox.
Learning information
- Lessons and sections completed
- Quiz results and scores
- Learning points
- Favourite words and word ratings
- Writing and reading activity
- Reading self-assessments
- Recent activity and progress
Some of this stays only on your device. If you sign in, selected profile, progress, and usage summaries may also be stored with your account in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore).
Purchase information
If you buy or restore the full-course unlock, Apple, Google, and RevenueCat process the payment. We may receive:
- Product identifier
- Entitlement or purchase status
- A transaction-related user identifier
We do not receive or store your full payment-card number. There is no subscription.
Technical and analytics information
We use Google Firebase Analytics and related Firebase services to understand how the App works and to fix problems. This may include:
- App launches and feature use
- Lesson and activity events
- Sign-in events
- App version and operating system
- Device type and language
- Crash or error descriptions
- A Firebase user identifier when you are signed in
The App does not use advertising SDKs, ad networks, or tracking for cross-app or cross-site advertising. We do not use your information to show third-party ads.
This website
The marketing website at readpersian.com uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used. Google may set cookies or similar storage in your browser. We do not use this data for advertising. Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
If you join the waitlist on this website, we collect your email address so we can tell you when Magu is available on the App Store and Google Play. We send a confirmation link first. We use Loops to store the list and send that mail. We do not sell waitlist addresses or use them for unrelated newsletters. You can unsubscribe from any waitlist email. Loops privacy policy: https://loops.so/privacy.
Preview-access information
Private preview or TestFlight builds may check your email against an invite list and record that the invitation was claimed by your account.
Information we do not collect
- Precise location
- Contacts, photos, or files from your library
- Audio recordings (the App plays sound; it does not record your voice)
- Advertising identifiers for ads
2. Information stored on your device
The App stores profile preferences, learning progress, points, favourite words, ratings, theme, and recent activity on your device (local storage / Hive).
Local data remains until you reset it, clear the App’s storage, or uninstall. Uninstalling the App does not automatically delete information already stored in Firebase or with Apple, Google, or RevenueCat. Ask us to delete cloud account data as described below.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and personalize lessons
- Save and show your progress
- Sign you in and keep your session secure
- Check preview invite access
- Process and restore purchases and unlock paid lessons
- Diagnose errors and improve reliability
- Understand which features are used so we can improve the App
- Meet legal obligations
- Answer support and privacy requests
We will not use information collected for one purpose for a materially different purpose without notice and, where required, your consent.
4. Legal grounds
Where the law requires a legal basis (including the GDPR), we process information based on:
- Performing our contract with you (providing the App)
- Your consent (for example optional profile details, or analytics where consent is required)
- Our legitimate interests in running, securing, and improving the App, in a way that does not override your rights
- Legal obligations (for example tax records of a purchase)
- Parental authority or verifiable parental consent when required for a child
You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already happened.
5. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers.
We share information only with the service providers that operate the App, and only as needed for the purposes above:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, analytics, cloud database, crash/error logs, and backend functions. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- RevenueCat — in-app purchase and entitlement status. Privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
- Loops — website waitlist storage and confirmation / release emails. Privacy policy: https://loops.so/privacy
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store distribution, and payments. Privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Google — Google Sign-In, Google Play distribution, and payments. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
These providers may process information in the United States or other countries. We require them to protect user data with protections that are at least as strong as those described in this policy and required by Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines and Google Play policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the public, or as part of a merger or sale of assets, with appropriate safeguards.
6. Children’s privacy
Magu: Read Persian 101 is an education app. It may be used by families, including children, with a parent or guardian. It is not listed in Apple’s Kids Category and is not enrolled in Google Play’s Designed for Families / Made for Kids program.
We do not use children’s information for targeted advertising, and we do not sell it.
If a child under 13 (or under the digital-consent age in your country) uses the App, a parent or guardian should create and manage the account and should be the person who signs in. We do not provide a separate in-app verifiable parental-consent flow at this time.
A parent or guardian may email saeed.darya@navardan.com to:
- Review information associated with their child
- Correct or delete that information
- Withdraw consent
- Stop further collection
If we learn that we collected a child’s personal information without required parental consent, we will delete it.
7. Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy.
- Account and cloud learning data: while the account is active. After a valid deletion request we delete it within 30 days, except records we must keep.
- Purchase and tax records: as long as Apple, Google, tax, or accounting law requires (often several years for the transaction itself). We do not keep your card number.
- Analytics and crash data: up to 14 months, then deleted or aggregated.
- Preview invite records: while the preview program is running, then deleted within 90 days after the program ends or after a deletion request.
- Backups: removed in the ordinary backup cycle, typically within 90 days after the live copy is deleted.
- On-device data: until you clear app storage or uninstall.
8. Your choices, deletion, and rights
You can:
- Use much of the App with progress stored only on the device
- Sign out without deleting local progress
- Email us to access, correct, or delete your account and cloud data
- Withdraw consent for optional processing
To request deletion of your account and associated cloud data, email saeed.darya@navardan.com from the address on the account (or, for Sign in with Apple Hide My Email, the relay address shown in the App). Include “Delete my Magu account” in the subject. We may need to verify that you own the account. We complete deletion of account and cloud learning data within 30 days, except purchase records we are legally required to keep.
Uninstalling the App does not submit a deletion request. Local data is removed by uninstalling; cloud data is removed when we process your email request.
You can start a request from the App: open About → Support, which emails us. Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, and California), you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, appeal a denied request, and complain to a data-protection authority. We honour those requests as required by law.
9. Security
We use HTTPS/TLS so information is encrypted in transit between the App and our service providers. Firebase and our other providers encrypt data they store. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and regulators when the law requires it.
10. Information you choose to share
The App may let you share a course certificate through your device’s share sheet. The certificate may include your first name and a completion date. You choose the recipient; their privacy practices apply after you share.
11. International transfers
Our providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, they use standard contractual clauses or other legally recognized safeguards.
12. No sale or targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not share personal information with advertising data brokers.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App or the law changes. We will change the “Last updated” date when we do. If a change materially expands how we use information we already have, we will ask for consent where required. Each App build includes the policy text current when that build was produced.
